Showroom & Manufacturing
Do you have a showroom?
Yes. Our showroom in Irene, Pretoria, offers a curated, hands-on experience of Bushtec’s luxury tented architecture. Here, you can explore finishes, structures, and interior possibilities – giving you a clear sense of the craftsmanship that goes into every tent.
Where are your tents manufactured?
All tents are produced in our 28,000 m² factory in Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal. With over 500 skilled specialists, we manage everything from design to fabrication, ensuring consistent quality, precision, and long-term durability.
Design & Custom Builds
Do you create custom tents?
Yes. Custom builds are a core part of our offering. Our design team works closely with you, your architect, or your designer to translate your vision into a fully bespoke tented solution. More complex designs may influence cost and manufacturing time, especially where structural approval is required.
Can standard designs be customised?
Absolutely. Our standard models are highly adaptable, allowing us to adjust layouts, finishes, and material choices to suit your site or project needs.
Do materials come in different colours?
Yes. We offer a variety of standard colours for canvas and structural components, with custom colours available on request. Frames can be powder-coated to match your design palette.
Pricing & Orders
How much do the tents cost?
Pricing varies based on the design, size, materials, and optional features you choose. Once your design and specifications are finalised, we prepare a detailed quotation outlining the full cost. Final pricing is confirmed upon plan approval
What is the ordering process?
Once you approve your final drawings, a 50% deposit secures your place in our production schedule. The remaining balance is paid before dispatch from our factory. Our team guides you through each step to ensure a smooth process.
What is the manufacturing lead time?
Manufacturing typically takes 10–12 weeks from plan approval and deposit – timelines may vary slightly depending on the scale and complexity of your build.
Installation & Site Requirements
Who installs the tents?
We offer flexible installation options. You can choose a full Bushtec installation team, or we can send a supervisor to work alongside your contractor to ensure everything is fitted correctly.
Do you do site inspections?
Yes. We believe understanding your site helps us deliver the best outcome. Site visits can be arranged, with travel and related costs covered by the client. They are especially beneficial for larger or turnkey projects.
Do your tents require a deck?
Yes. All Bushtec tents are designed to be installed on a solid, level platform such as a wooden deck, concrete slab, or plinth. We can provide decking plans or work directly with your contractor to ensure structural alignment.
Do you supply decking?
We collaborate with trusted decking partners and can quote on substructures and decks. If you prefer, you’re also welcome to source and install decking locally.
Structure & Environmental Performance
What frame options are available?
Our frame options include double powder-coated mild steel, 304 stainless steel, and 316 marine-grade stainless steel. The latter is ideal for coastal and high-humidity environments where corrosion resistance is crucial.
Do the tents offer insulation?
Yes. We offer a double-wall insulated canvas system that enhances temperature control and comfort across both the tent body and ceiling.
How are the tents heated in winter?
Our tents can accommodate fireplaces or stoves, complete with a fitted chimney boot. Fire-retardant canvas options are available to further support safety requirements.
How do the tents stay cool in summer?
Cooling can be achieved through air-conditioning units, natural ventilation designed into the roofing system, and the addition of ceiling fans. These elements work together to maintain a comfortable interior climate year-round.
Durability & Maintenance
How long do the tents last?
Lifespan varies depending on climate and maintenance. The shade fly – being the most exposed – typically requires replacement first. We also offer a maintenance compound that restores UV protection, colour, waterproofing, and anti-rot properties to extend the lifespan of your tent.
Are the tents fire-retardant?
Yes. Our canvas complies with CPSIA 84 and NFPA 701 fire-retardant standards. Depending on local regulations, fire safety equipment may also be required on-site.
Do you keep stock?
Most of our tents are made to order to ensure each piece aligns with your requirements. However, we do keep a limited stock of select standard models.
Finishes & Interiors
Do the tents have hard windows and doors?
This is optional. We can supply wooden or steel frames with glass for clients wanting a more permanent architectural feel. Alternatively, soft roll-up openings are available at no additional cost.
Do the tents include a groundsheet?
A groundsheet can be included, though we generally recommend more permanent flooring solutions such as wood decking, tiles, or screed for long-term comfort and maintenance benefits.
Do you offer interior design services?
Yes. Bushtec Creations provides full interior design, procurement, and installation services to complete your space. We can also recommend designers best suited to your project’s style and location.
